Emma Twine

Emma is a midwife clinical advisor in our maternity investigation programme in addition to her role as Maternity Improvement Support Midwife at Somerset Foundation Trust.

She’s been a qualified midwife for 16 years. During this time, Emma has worked in seven different maternity units including roles as a risk lead midwife, community and maternity advice line matron, transformation midwife and antenatal clinic lead midwife. She maintains her clinical practice in all areas of midwifery.

Emma’s passions of interest are homebirth, birth outside of guidance and improving maternity safety through transformation and quality improvement.

Emma holds a Masters in Professional Practice and also works as a midwife advisor for MBRRACE on their maternal death reviews. She also works a midwife expert witness for maternity negligence cases.
