Vicky is a Consultant Anaesthetist at University Hospitals Plymouth, a busy tertiary obstetric centre and regional level 3 NICU. For the past 18 months, she has served as joint Obstetric Anaesthesia Lead, a role she undertook following a six month obstetric anaesthesia fellowship at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth, Western Australia.
A key focus of her work has been collaborating with midwifery and obstetric colleagues to improve the functioning of maternity theatres. This has included streamlining elective caesarean section pathways, planning for increasing demand and complexity, and helping to maintain a safe, supportive environment for both patients and staff.
To broaden her experience, Vicky also spent six months at Perth Children’s Hospital as a Senior Anaesthetic Registrar. This role strengthened her understanding of neonatal and paediatric care and enhanced her ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
In her lead role, she represents anaesthesia at Maternity Assurance Group meetings and contributes to clinical governance work. Her involvement in the MSNI review process has further shaped her approach to learning, reflection, and service improvement.
