Liane is a registered midwife who has held a variety of clinical, managerial, and strategic roles during her 25 year midwifery career. Over the past decade, she has worked at National, Regional, and Integrated Care Board (ICB) level in positions spanning maternity, neonatal services, and the Freedom to Speak Up space. She also serves as an independent panel member of the NMC’s Fitness to Practise panel.
Throughout all roles, Liane’s focus has consistently been on ensuring that women and birthing people receive safe, high quality, and evidence based care. She has led numerous national, regional, ICB, and local projects and work streams designed to promote good practice, amplify the voices of women and birthing people, increase choice and personalisation, enhance safety, reduce inequalities, and transform both services and the workforce.
Her current position is that of Maternity and Neonatal Independent Senior Advocate, a role within an NHS England pilot that has been unanimously evaluated as positive by service users, NHS colleagues, and voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise partners alike.
Liane consistently strives to ensure that compassionate, personcentred, safe, effective, evidence based, and culturally competent care is delivered, while also recognising the importance of enabling and supporting NHS colleagues in working towards these shared goals.
