Claire Murgatroyd

Claire retired in September 2025 after seven years as a maternity investigator at MNSI, following a career as a midwife that began in 1991. Throughout her time as a midwife, she developed a deep commitment to improving safety within her maternity service. This passion for enhancing safety was a privilege to carry forward into her role at MNSI, where she continued to focus on promoting safety and fostering learning across the broader maternity services sector.

As a maternity investigator, Claire developed valuable skills in conducting detailed analyses of maternity incidents. She identified key themes and produced reports designed to support learning and drive continuous improvement. She has significant experience in reviewing and drafting learning reports.

Drawing on her background, Claire is eager to ensure that MNSI’s publications continue to set the standard for clarity and actionable insights in maternity safety. She wants to support the ongoing development of high-quality, meaningful resources that contribute to the improvement of maternity care.
